Apple Crumble Bars

Remember the applesauce I made awhile ago well I had put some away in the freezer for later use. Here’s later.

Put 1 cup into a sauce pan and add 7- 10 finely chopped dates and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Add more dates if you want it sweeter, less if you don’t. Simmer the mix until it is reduced and the dates are mushy.

Meanwhile measure out 1 1/4 cups spelt flour or whole wheat and 1 cup oats into a bowl. The spelt adds a nice sweet mellow flavour.

Next melt 1/4 cup honey and 1/2 cup coconut oil. Once melted add to the flour and oats bowl and mix. Once mixed set aside 1/2 cup of the crumble.

Push the rest of the crumble into a 8 x 8 baking dish to from a crust. Cover the crust with the applesauce. Sprinkle the reserved crumble on top and bake at 350 for 30ish mins. Let cool before removing and cutting.
